THE UNION/ Ending the tuberculosis epidemic
Tuberculosis is the world's biggest infectious disease, killing more people every year than malaria, more people than HIV. Every year 1.7 million people die from TB - 239,00 of them are children.
Helen is the Global Director of Communications for the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The Union) - the first global public health organisation in the world. Helen has been brought in to raise awareness of TB around the world with the people needed to end this epidemic - the political leaders, researchers, funders, scientists, politicians, the communities affected by this terrible disease.
With a global communications team in The Union's 11 offices, Helen oversees a huge range of communication campaigns - lobbying for change at the World Health Assembly and the UN General Assembly, running media and social media campaigns on Child TB, running communications at global conferences for lung health, placing press to combat the tobacco industry. Helen works closely with a ranch of stakeholders including the World Health Organization, Stop TB Partnership, the Global TB Caucus and Bloomberg Philanthropies.
She is also the strategic lead on all elements of branding and marketing, and with No One Right Answer has consolidated The Union brand around the world.
The Union is a membership organisation, with thousands of members and stakeholders working as an international network for lung health. Helen has worked to develop a membership value proposition to rejuvenate the membership offering and ensure being a member of The Union will continue to be the heart of the organisation as it reaches its 100th anniversary in 2020.
